Yes, I would like this feature very much and have asked for it in the
past. But what would be better in my opinion would be some mechanism by
which I could customize the generated make file. That is, I still want
the IDE to build the list of dependencies and to declare the targets
specified in the IDE. But I also want the ability to add additional
targets and rules that are protected.

I would find this very useful as well. It is in fact one of the reasons
I want to be able to have an "execute command before build" option.
