And there is that switch supposed to be? An option in the compiler?
Just think about mixing your old drivers with old const usage with new
drivers or programs with flash usage. I think it must be a switch (pragma?)
in the files.

Errrm, I hear warning bells ringing. "Having 'const' back" implies that it
will no longer do what it used to and that legacy software will have to be
changed when it needs maintenance. If that is the case there needs to be a
BIG BOLD warning somewhere whenever the 'const' keyword is encountered.
In my haste, I forgot to mention that of course there will be a switch to
make it backward compatible or the forward way :-)
